Joan Baez and Adam Kirk I recently saw Holly Kirby play at the Folk Station. I thought that she sang two inspired cover versions - Me and My Uncle (by John Phillips of the Mamas and Papas) and No Mermaid - a song written by the Irish singer Sinead Lohan. I asked Holly where she had heard No Mermaid from and she said that Kev Summers - a man who knows his music - had suggested that she sung it.
Holly then told me about a video on You Tube. It is taken from the German TV show Willems Woche in 1997. It is of Joan Baez singing No Mermaid, accompanied by the Isle of Wight's Adam Kirk on guitar. That was a memorable time when Adam was in Joan's touring band. Adam now lives in with his wife and son in Mill Valley, California. He is still involved in music. Check out www.myspace.com/adamfkirk
